Treatments and fees

Every price on this page applies at all six practices. Times shown are the times booked in the diary, not an average.

This page describes treatments; it is not medical advice and does not diagnose anything. Whether a treatment is right for you is a decision for you and your doctor.

Prescribable treatments

KG

Physiotherapy (KG)

Prescribable

€3020 min

Active and passive exercise therapy for joints, muscles and posture — the treatment most prescriptions are written for.

A session usually mixes hands-on work with exercises you then repeat at home. Your therapist assesses movement, strength and pain behaviour at the first appointment and adjusts the plan as the prescription runs. We write the home exercises down for you; nobody is expected to remember them.

Typically prescribed for

  • After joint or spinal surgery
  • Back and neck pain
  • Restricted movement after immobilisation

All six practices

MT

Manual therapy (MT)

Prescribable

€3625 min

Hands-on mobilisation of single joints and the surrounding soft tissue, given by therapists with the manual therapy certificate.

Manual therapy needs its own entry on the prescription and its own qualification — statutory funds only settle it with therapists who hold the certificate. Eleven of our staff do; the location pages say who works where.

Typically prescribed for

  • Blocked or stiff joints
  • Shoulder and hip impingement
  • Segmental restriction in the spine

KMT

Classical massage therapy

Prescribable

€2920 min

Classical massage of a defined body region to reduce muscle tone — prescribable, and also bookable as a self-pay appointment.

On a prescription, massage covers one region — usually the neck and shoulders or the lower back. As a self-pay appointment you can also book 40 minutes for two regions. Massage is a treatment, not a wellness offer: we do not sell packages or subscriptions.

Typically prescribed for

  • Raised muscle tone in the neck and shoulders
  • Tension-related back complaints

KGG

Equipment-assisted rehabilitation (KGG)

Prescribable

€4230 min

Supervised on the training floor; groups of no more than three.

Loaded training on rehabilitation equipment, supervised throughout — the bridge between treatment couch and everyday load.

KGG needs a separate prescription entry and may only be given in practices approved for it. Ours are Westerfilde, Huckarde and Brambauer. Wear clothes you can move in; we provide towels.

Typically prescribed for

  • Late-phase rehabilitation after surgery
  • Muscle deficit after long immobilisation

Available at

Westerfilde, Huckarde, Brambauer

MLD

Manual lymphatic drainage

Prescribable

€3230 min

45 min €47 · 60 min €61. Compression bandaging is billed separately.

Gentle decongestive technique for swelling after surgery, injury or in chronic oedema.

Given only by therapists with the MLD/KPE certificate. The prescription states the duration, and the duration is what the doctor decided — we cannot shorten or extend it. Mengede, Castrop-Rauxel and Waltrop carry most of this work.

Typically prescribed for

  • Oedema after surgery
  • Lymphoedema and lipoedema

Available at

Westerfilde, Mengede, Castrop-Rauxel, Waltrop

KG-ZNS

Neurological physiotherapy (Bobath / PNF)

Prescribable

€4830 min

Treatment for adults after damage to the central nervous system, on the Bobath or PNF concept.

Longer sessions, slower progress, and goals set with you rather than for you — walking to the bus stop, getting up from a low chair, holding a cup. Castrop-Rauxel is our main site for this; Westerfilde also treats ZNS prescriptions.

Typically prescribed for

  • After a stroke
  • Multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease

Available at

Westerfilde, Castrop-Rauxel

CMD

Jaw treatment (CMD)

Prescribable

€4430 min

Work on the temporomandibular joint and the muscles around it, usually referred by a dentist.

Craniomandibular dysfunction is usually prescribed as manual therapy with a jaw indication. Bring your splint if you have one. Waltrop and Mengede have the longest experience with this.

Typically prescribed for

  • Jaw pain, clicking, limited mouth opening
  • Tension headache with a jaw component

Available at

Westerfilde, Mengede, Waltrop

SPT

Sports physiotherapy

Self-pay

€6545 min

Self-pay. Some private policies contribute — please check your own tariff first.

Return-to-sport testing and loaded rehabilitation for athletes, at Huckarde.

A 45-minute block: hop and strength testing, then loaded work on the sled track. We report the numbers to you and, if you want, to your club physio. We do not clear anyone to play — that decision belongs to your doctor.

Typically prescribed for

  • After ligament injury
  • Recurrent muscle injuries

Available at

Huckarde

Accompanying remedies

WT

Heat therapy (fango / hot air)

Prescribable

€1420 min

Applied before manual treatment to soften tissue. Almost always an add-on, rarely a treatment on its own.

On a prescription heat therapy appears as an accompanying remedy and adds roughly 20 minutes to your appointment. Tell us about circulatory conditions or reduced sensation beforehand.

Typically prescribed for

  • Muscular tension before manual therapy

Available at

Westerfilde, Mengede, Castrop-Rauxel, Waltrop, Brambauer

KT

Cold therapy

Prescribable

€1110 min

Local cooling after loaded training or in an acutely irritated joint.

Applied at Huckarde as part of sports rehabilitation, and elsewhere when the prescription asks for it.

Typically prescribed for

  • Acute joint irritation

Available at

Huckarde

ET

Electrotherapy

Prescribable

€910 min

Current applied to a defined region, as an accompanying remedy on a prescription.

Not suitable for everyone: tell us before your first session if you have a pacemaker, an implanted defibrillator, a metal implant in the treated region, or if you are pregnant.

Typically prescribed for

  • Pain modulation as an accompanying remedy

Available at

Westerfilde, Huckarde, Brambauer

HB

Home visit surcharge

Prescribable

€18per visit

Plus a mileage charge from €2.50 depending on distance. On a prescription the home visit must be marked by the doctor.

Treatment at home or in a care home, where travelling to a practice is not possible.

Castrop-Rauxel and Mengede run the home-visit rounds; they cover Castrop-Rauxel, Mengede, Nette, Bodelschwingh and Brambauer. The rounds are full most weeks, so ask early.

Typically prescribed for

  • Medically certified inability to travel

Available at

Castrop-Rauxel

Prevention courses

PRÄV

Back school prevention course

Self-pay

€14910 × 60 min

Paid by you first. Many statutory funds reimburse a share of certified prevention courses under § 20 SGB V — the amount and the conditions are set by your fund, so ask them before you enrol.

A ten-week group course in Brambauer: how the spine takes load, and what to do about it at work.

Groups of eight to twelve, Monday or Wednesday evening, no prescription needed. You receive an attendance certificate at the end, which is what your fund will ask for. We cannot promise reimbursement and we do not process it for you.

Typically prescribed for

  • Recurrent back complaints without an acute cause
  • Sedentary or heavy-lifting work

Available at

Brambauer

What you actually pay

German physiotherapy billing has three cases. Which one you are in depends on your insurance, not on the practice.

Statutory health insurance with a prescription

Your doctor writes a Heilmittelverordnung. Your health fund settles the treatment with us directly. You pay a statutory co-payment under § 61 SGB V: €10 per prescription plus 10 percent of the amount settled for it. We invoice that co-payment; it is set by law and we cannot waive it.

If you hold a co-payment exemption certificate (Zuzahlungsbefreiung) from your fund for the current year, bring it to the first appointment and no co-payment is charged. Patients under 18 do not pay the co-payment.

Treatment must normally begin within 28 days of the date on the prescription, or within 14 days where the doctor has marked urgent need. If that window is about to pass, say so when you call — a prescription that expires has to be written again by the doctor.

Private insurance and Beihilfe

You receive an invoice from us and settle it yourself, then submit it to your insurer or Beihilfe office. What they reimburse depends on your own tariff, and we cannot tell you in advance what that will be — please ask your insurer before a longer course of treatment.

Self-payers

No prescription needed for massage, sports physiotherapy and the prevention course. You pay the price on this page, and you receive an invoice you can keep for your records.

Missed appointments

Please cancel at least 24 hours in advance. An appointment cancelled later than that, or not attended, is charged at the full self-pay price of the treatment booked — health funds do not pay for a session that did not happen. Cancel by phone at your practice or by replying to your appointment email.

Forms and what to bring

Nothing here needs printing at home. Every form is handed to you at reception, and we will fill it in with you if writing is difficult. Ask by email and we will send a form ahead of your appointment.

  1. First-visit history form

Your complaints, previous treatments, medication and anything that rules a technique out — pacemaker, implants, pregnancy, skin conditions in the treatment area. Roughly ten minutes at reception before your first appointment.

  2. Data processing consent

Confirms what we record, how long we keep it, and whether your file may be opened at the other five practices. The cross-practice part is optional and can be withdrawn at any time.

  3. Self-payer agreement

Only for treatments without a prescription. It states the price, the duration and the cancellation terms before you agree to anything.

Bring to your first appointment

  • The original prescription — a photograph is not enough for billing
  • Your health insurance card
  • A co-payment exemption certificate, if you have one
  • Clothes you can move in, and a large towel
